How much does it cost?+
$3 a month once subscriptions open in 2027, with the first full month free. After the first 2,000 subscribers the price starts dropping for everyone — half a cent per new subscriber, with a floor at $1/month at 6,000 subscribers. Core news, events, government coverage, and preparedness information stay free for every resident. Obituaries are always free.
When does it launch?+
Siskiyou is a working pilot program today; the first version went live in July 2025. Launch in the app stores is planned for 2026–2027. App store review times vary, so we aren't promising a specific quarter. Subscriptions open in 2027. Join the subscriber waitlist and we'll let you know when we go live.
Is there an Android version?+
Yes. Siskiyou will launch in both app stores, for iPhone and Android.
Where does the news come from?+
43+ local sources, monitored 24/7 — every city government site (Yreka, Mt. Shasta, Weed, Dunsmuir, McCloud), the Board of Supervisors, the Sheriff's Office, CAL FIRE, the Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, the Karuk Tribe and Quartz Valley Indian Reservation, the County Office of Education, College of the Siskiyous, the 8-chamber Siskiyou Chamber Alliance, Siskiyou News, local businesses and non-profits, and more. Content appears as soon as it's published at the source.
Who's behind this?+
Siskiyou is built in Mt. Shasta by Wise Mountain, founded by Will Waltz, with Di Strachan leading outreach. We are exploring grants and founding community funders. Siskiyou is meant as a gift to the community, and subscriptions will fund coverage and infrastructure — no ads, no data resale.

Can I submit a tip or event?+
Yes — there's a submission flow inside the app for both news tips and community events. Subscribers get faster turnaround, but anyone can submit.
